Flora and Fauna of Gujarat
Gujarat is a state in the north-west coast of India. It is also known as the 'jewel of west India'. It has a coastline of 1600 km most of which lies in the Kathiawar peninsula alongside the gulfs of Kutch and Khambhat. The state shares its boundary with Rajasthan in the north, with Madhya Pradesh in the east, with Maharashtra in the east and with the Arabian sea and Pakistan on the west. Its capital city is Gandhinagar. Gujarat is home to around 60 million Gujaratis- the Gujarti speaking people
The Flora
Due to the favorable climatic condition, a wide variety of flora of more than 400 is present in this state. The forests of Gujarat includes teak, guab, Indian olibanum, axlewood. The Fauna
In gujarat, one can find as many as 500 varieties of mammals, more than 2000 species of birds, a wide range of insects, fishes, amphibians reptiles etc. Some of the important mammals found in gujarat are black bucks, wild boar, four horned antelope, hyenas rusty spotted cats, etc. Gujarat also shelters some dangerous breed of animals like mosquitoes and locusts which are considered fatal indeed. A variety of lizards, scorpions, silkwor, crocodiles, snakes, lac insect, peacock, cranes, geese ducks, pheasants and parrots are also significant members of fauna of Gujarat.
